GRVL Coast

Overview

GRVL Coast is a dedicated platform promoting gravel riding along Tasmania’s east coast. More than just a cycling guide, it positions gravel riding as a form of low-impact tourism, encouraging off-season travel and showcasing the region’s natural beauty. The site also bridges the gap between the area’s successful mountain biking scene and riders seeking a more accessible, leisurely way to experience the outdoors.

The Challenge

The project aimed to address:

  • Limited centralised information about gravel riding in the region
  • Lack of detailed guidance on trail conditions and difficulty levels
  • Need to promote the east coast as a year-round cycling destination
  • The importance of creating a welcoming experience for riders of all abilities
  • The need for a mobile-friendly, engaging user platform

The Solution

We built a modern, responsive website that highlights the region’s riding opportunities while supporting sustainable tourism. The platform features curated routes with trail details, an interactive map of locations, and galleries that capture the unique landscapes. Practical visitor information ensures riders are well-prepared, while the design makes the experience inviting for both enthusiasts and casual riders.

Results

  • Established the first dedicated gravel riding resource for Tasmania’s east coast
  • Promoted low-impact tourism and encouraged off-season visitation
  • Extended the region’s cycling appeal beyond mountain biking
  • Delivered an engaging, mobile-first experience for riders
  • Increased visibility of the east coast as a cycling destination

Technical Details

  • Platform: Next.js web application
  • Stack: Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, Maplibre (interactive maps)
